Herpes simplex type 2 (or HSV-2) is a common STI that occurs most often on or near your sex organs. Although there isn’t a cure for herpes, there are ways to prevent its spread and treat outbreaks. You can give genital herpes to others or get it from someone who’s infected. Even if you don’t have blisters or symptoms, it’s still possible to infect another person with the herpes virus.
